I was able to trade my 1997 Chevrolet Silverado for a 1980 GMC Sierra. Unfortunately, the truck was in Mexico and I needed someone to take my truck and bring the other one. It’d been only seconds after telling my dad that the truck was on its way when I got a call from the vehicle transportation guy. He rambled about how he couldn’t get the truck to my house because of issues he’d had with it. The truck was supposed to be at my house at eight o’clock that night. I hung up feeling disappointed about not being able to even see my truck after I had already sent mine to Mexico.
I could barely sleep that night knowing that my truck hadn’t even made it across the border. The next morning, I was able to reach the new owner of my 1997 Chevrolet truck and ask him about the issues that he’d had with the GMC. He said the truck would start but it was having heating issues. He was able to replace the radiator and luckily it’s problem went away. He filled it up with water and off it went to my house. The guy drove it for an hour before the truck suddenly shut off and broke down in the middle of the road.
He called me again and this time he told me that the truck had broken down, and that he had hitched a ride with a trucker, and that he was on his way to my house. It was about ten o’clock when he showed up talking about how he didn’t know what had gone wrong, and that he had no clue as for how we were going to get it here. As mad as I was already I made him drive us all the way back four hours to the site where the truck had broken down. The whole way I remember talking to my dad about the things that could have gone wrong, and the chance of even finding it there still in the side of the road. We got there at around one in the morning, I almost cried of joy when I saw my truck still there where the transportation guy had left it.
We got off the truck and we could barely see the road, the place was so dark I almost fell when I got off the truck. The fact that my truck was black didn’t help at all, I lit up the truck with the flashlight on my phone and saw the orange streak of dirt on the passenger side of the truck, it
was the water coming from the radiator. The guy hadn’t tied the cap on correctly and the water was gushing out the whole way leaving an orange streak on the side of the truck. The loss of water caused the simple 350 engine to overheat blowing the head gaskets and therefore, shattering the ability of the engine to run. We had to push the truck onto the hauler and bring it back to our house. We drove four hours back to our house and got there at eleven thirty in the morning.
The next day we began to tear apart the engine and found that one of the heads was cracked. We immediately began to call everywhere looking for a head, but we soon found out that it would be best to just buy a whole engine since there wasn’t much of a difference in price. That same day, a friend of my dad reached out to us and told us about a truck that had just came in with a bad transmission, and a good 350, only issue was that it didn’t want to start. He told us that if we were able to start it, he would give it to us if we took it off. He had two other guys messing with it and they couldn’t figure out what was wrong with it.
My dad and I looked at it for about twenty minutes before we figured out what was wrong with it. We found out that one of the ground wires wasn’t connected, and that was stopping the truck from starting. In the end, we took it out of the old truck and hauled it to ours. As soon as we got home, we began to take the old engine out, to install the new one. We were there all day from one in the afternoon to eleven at night. The truck had the engine in it by then, but we needed to finish it off. The next morning, we finished it, and the truck started right up, it still drives just as good today, and it has had no issues since. I’ve owned it for a year now and it has been a tough one but at least I still have it running.
Although it’s been a year, I still feel like the whole delivery process could have gone a whole lot better. If I had known about A-1 Auto Transport, I’d probably had gone with it. I have learned my lesson, and although I haven’t needed to have a car moved, or transported anywhere
lately, I know that if I ever do I have A-1 Auto Transport to help me. I read about how you have enclosed auto carriers in order to transport classic cars, and that really sold me, I feel that it is a lot safer riding in an enclosed auto carrier where the vehicle only needs to be turned on to get it into the carrier and is also protected from debris in the highway. I also saw that you have the GPS order tracking service, and that is also a very good reason for me to go with you. I know that your service will come in handy, and I believe that I will use it at some point in the future. The service is a really good way to transport motor vehicles, and it really is a lot better than the guy I asked to bring my truck since your people have over 25 years of experience. Thank you for providing such a good way to transport motor vehicles, it truly is rare in today’s world.
