Inspections
After your car is released by customs, it will need to be inspected. It is a good idea to arrange for these inspections before the car arrives You will need three different inspections:

After these inspections are completed, you can apply for registration and a Greek license plate. Any vehicle you bring into Greece duty-free is for your personal use only (or the use of your family members) and may not be sold, transferred, lent out, leased or pawned, otherwise you will be sent a bill for the taxes that were waived.

Types of Transport
There are two common methods for shipping a car to Greece: Roll On/Roll Off (RO/RO) or container shipping. RO/RO tends to be less expensive than shipping by container. Your car is driven onto a special deck of the ship and parked, similar to valet parking, for the length of the journey. In order to use RO/RO shipping, the vehicle must be drivable and you are not permitted to store any items inside the car during the trip. When the ship docks, your car is driven off and parked until you pick it up.
Although the cost of transporting a vehicle by container is higher, you also have the flexibility to send other products at the same time. The cost arises in part because of the extra effort required to load and secure automobiles within a container. While the containers are being unloaded, you'll have to wait a little longer for your automobile on the other end.

What Are My Overseas Shipping Options?
The type of heavy equipment or oversized cargo you are trying to ship through A1 will determine what type of transport methods are available to you. Nonetheless, A1 offers a total of four international shipping methods. Each one has a different manner of overseeing the transport of your cargo to Greece.
Container transport is the costliest of the four transport methods since it is an enclosed shipping service that offers the ultimate protection. Your heavy equipment must fit into a 40ft shipping container if you wish to use this enclosed method.
The cheapest of your transport method options is RoRo (roll on/roll off). This open air service is only available to those with heavy equipment or large vehicles that can be driven onto and off of the ship using a ramp.
LoLo (lift on/lift off) shipping is another inexpensive open air service available to those transporting inoperable vehicles and crated heavy equipment to Greece. Your cargo is lifted on top of the boat and off of the boat using a crane.
The flat rack shipping service is the most secure open air transport method available. Your cargo will be strapped tightly to a metal frame before it is placed aboard the ship for its transport overseas.
